During Asana practise, students can expect an equal approach toward flexibility, strength development, body weight support, balance, core development and coordination. Asana classes are typically followed by Pranayama (breath regulation) and various resting or meditation techniques (Nidra, Pratyahara, Dharana or Dhyana).
As all modern Asana styles are based upon Hatha, there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Hatha class. Classes can range from gentle and relaxing to vigorous and challenging depending on the requirements of the students. Advancement in Hatha is not dependent on the complication of the pose, but rather the length of time it is held. Intermediate to advanced students can expect more focussed practise, while beginners can expect more flowing practise (not to be confused with Vinyasa).
